    Super help from this Parker Davis company. They are very good in honoring your warranty. I bought 3 mini splits, but one had a compressor that is bad. The quickly replaced it with a brand new one. Will definitely recommend and do business again. Good video above, no doubt about it, but also mixed it with other mini split videos, as the gauge you use may not look like the pioneers, most likely you will have a blue and red gauge, or low and high side gauge. But for the most part, this video will get you there!

    The installation manual says 11 ft-lb for 1/4” lines and 18.4 ft-lb for 3/8” lines; this video says 15 ft-lb and 26 ft-lb, 40% higher. Which is correct???

      Always go by the installation manual as different models may have different torque ratings.

      @SDMarkVideo 12 днів тому

      This confused me too. The WYS manual page 27 has much lower torque specs than the chart at 18:50 in the video. Wonder what that chart applies to. The video also doesn't show a torque wrench, or backing off and re-tightening as instructed in the manual. Maybe torque isn't that important?

      Depends on the size of the pipes. For 1/4-3/8 or 1/4-1/2 a 3" will be fine. For 1/4-5/8 or 3/8-5/8 we'd recommend getting the 4" cover.

    I'm thinking there's a mistake at 5' 5" - the video instructs you to feed the end with spade terminals through from the back to the terminal block. I'm pretty certain you should feed the other end, with bare terminals, through here - the spade terminals are to connect to the outdoor unit . .

    • @SDMarkVideo
      @SDMarkVideo 12 днів тому

      If you look a few seconds later, like 5:45, those look like some kind of flat terminal bent up at the edges, not the U-shaped spades with heat-shrink tubing that go outside. If I recall correctly, the indoor end of my wire didn't have those bent-up terminals--I can't remember if maybe it was tinned into a flat connector for screwing onto.

    OK, as always I can still find questions. For starters, both of my lines have a service port. I suspect that may be for something else, but just checking. The line side we connect to is the low pressure side, the larger line. Am I correct? Is this step to do a pressure check? I was going to use this step instead of a nitrogen check. Then I would come back with the vacuum step and hole it at a negative 30 for an hour to give is a double-check. Do you think anyone has an opinion? How did you check the half-can deal - seems a little funky. I could use a postal scale and go with half the weight? Would that make any sense? I'm being a little cautious till I get some better experience. I'm using a 2-ton LG unit. Douglas

    I'm not certain that this method ensures removal of ALL moisture in the system. I own a professionally installed 3 ton system which has worked flawlessly for 21 years. I have factory-built window ACs still cooling effectively after 20 years. None of these units have ever needed refrigerant added. Will a system installed using KWIK-E-VAC operate 20 years without degradation?

    I really appreciate the video it is done very well and is very helpful. But Pioneer needs to be take responsibility for using phillips heads on the final 8 screws where hex heads would have made more sense. My system is 7 years old and one of the screws is so rusted that it will not come out! I have been turning wrenches for over 50 years working on muscle cars and race motorcycles and have extracted many screws but this is the absolute worst situation I have ever seen! No method can even be attempted let alone work due to the sensitivity of the evaporator and depth of the screw! Not sure I am going to buy anymore Pioneer products. At least use stainless for this application! Thank you again Pioneer Mini Split Store for the great video!

    Hello, I recently purchased the Pioneer Hyperformance 24,000 BTU 21 SEER2 Ductless Mini Split Inverter++ Wi-Fi Enabled Air Conditioner Hyper Heat Pump Full Set 230V with Installation Kit. For my DIY installation, I'm wondering if I need to buy a "vacuum pump pressure gauge connect" for testing purposes to ensure I can draw a sufficient vacuum on the refrigerant. The advertisement suggested that this mini-split is easy to set up without needing a vacuum pump, but I want to be sure. Should I invest in a vacuum pump, or would it be unnecessary for this installation? Knowing this will help me decide whether to hire a professional for this specific task, so I don't buy the vacuum pump. Thank you.

      The way it works is that the outdoor condensing unit is factory pre-charged with R410a to support line lengths up to 25 ft long. You will first need to remove the air from the lines before releasing the refrigerant from the outdoor unit, using a vacuum pump or the Kwik-e-vac flushing kit that we sell, which can bypass that step. See our video on that product here: ua-cam.com/video/ZDXIIJwDkM8/v-deo.htmlsi=Typ0gCPgLK3tQXfe

    • @truereviewer
      @truereviewer 4 дні тому

      100% agreed on this one, you would need to trim on the insulation, so that when you make the bend into the indoor air handler, it does not push it, and leave it flushed to the wall. Agree with what you say over here.

    I recently went through a similar process to replace the blower wheel on my unit and it is definitely not as easy as they make it look. I actually wasn't able to get the bracket out even after messing with it for hours because it has several random chunks of metal for unused screw holes that interfere with the U shaped loops on the right side of the coil, so I ended up lifting the left side of the coil and replacing the blower wheel through that side, which worked much better. The left side of the coil lifts much easier and higher because there are no lines on that side. It's obvious that this unit didn't have the lines connected to the coil judging by how freely it moved compared to reality. The screws for the bracket were pretty badly rusted on mine after 5 years of use and didn't want to budge, but I was eventually able to get them out undamaged by soaking them with penetrating oil and carefully heating them with a butane torch. It doesn't help that you have to use the screwdriver at an awkward sideways angle on several of the screws because the lines are in the way. Whatever you do, do NOT strip out the screws or this job will become a nightmare. Once I got the screws out, I cleaned them up and coated them with anti seize before reinstalling them in case I have to take them out again in the future. Finally, I'd highly recommend wearing safety glasses and/or pumping down the unit before starting this job just in case you break a line. Although pretty unlikely if you are careful, it's definitely possible with this job and the possibility of -55 degree liquid refrigerant and oil spraying everywhere at 200+ PSI isn't a risk to ignore or take lightly. Unless you are very mechanically talented and have the time and patience to mess with a tedious, delicate, and nearly impossible job for hours, you may be better off hiring a professional to do this job for you, especially considering the unavoidable risk of breaking a refrigerant line trying to move the coil around at odd angles.

    i purchased a mini split unit. after having it professionally installed i had to pay an addition $1,000 to have 50 liters of coolant added because there was only 2 ounces in the unit. prior to this i called because the unit was not operating in heat mode and the representatives solution was for me to purchase another $1300 unit. EVEN AFTER I HAD ANOTHER HVAC COMPANY COME OUT TO REPAIR THE UNIT, IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THEY SENT ME A DEFECTIVE UNIT. IT STILL IS NOT OPERATING. i will make sure that i spread the word across all social media platforms about the horrendous policies, warranty and customer service standards that this company inflicts on paying customers. i am also a contractor for very large companies AND had my experience been exceptional, i would have recommended this product to many of my clients. however i will MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE COMPANIES MISHANDLING OF CUSTOMERS, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND UNSAVORY WARRANTY GUIDLINES. Follow up to my call back from Pioneer. this company has revealed themselves to be a laughing stock of the HVAC community. their "solution" for a defective unit was to send me 2 lbs of freon... mind you i spent $1000 for a licensed company to come out and service the unit adding 50 liters to the 2 ounces Pioneer sent it out with. Way to put a band aid on a bullet wound pioneer. At this point, the ONLY solution for this lackadaisical response would be to either refund my hard earned USD or send a higher efficiency unit to accommodate the additional cost i have incurred by being sent a unit the is defective and still not operable after having it serviced by a licensed AND insured HVAC company. i will continue to make sure that everyone in this industry, and adjacent is aware that PIONEER DOES NOT STAND BY THE QUALITY OF THIER PRODUCT BY PROVIDING A WARANTY THAT DOES NOT INSURE ITS EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY THAT PIONEER NORTORIOUSLY BOASTS ABOUT ON ALL OF THE PLATFORMS WHICH THESE UNITS ARE SOLD. PIONEER.COM HAS A QUOTE ON THE HOME PAGE"...enjoy the perfect temperature all year round" well it is less than 50 degrees in the Midwest and my family has been less than warm.
